When filing export and re-export declarations, it is possible to use the following facilities:
Direct representation Direct Representation means that a customs dispatching agent files a declaration on behalf of and payable by the exporter. The exporter is the declarant. He is liable for the contents of the declaration.
Indirect representation Indirect representation means that a customs dispatching agent files a declaration in his own name, but payable by the exporter. The customs dispatching agent is the declarant. He is liable for the contents of the declaration.
If you are an exporter and you file your own export declaration, nothing will change for you. If you are an exporter who uses the services of a Customs dispatching agent (i.e. you do not complete the export declaration yourself) bear in mind the basic principles.
